The Astra Nova Gallery proudly presents the 2024-2025 Film Festival & Art Exhibition, featuring student works that explore the beauty of nature!
Inspired by William Wordsworth’s poem, Lines Written in Early Spring, this exhibition reflects on the calm and wonder found in the natural world through blooming flowers, chirping birds, and swaying trees. However, there’s also a tinge of sadness in this poem, as Wordsworth wonders how people treat each other and the world around them. That mix of joy and reflection is the core message in this year's exhibition.
This multimedia exhibition unites a range of student artworks from throughout the school year. The pieces featured sprout from fan-favorite classes such as Creative Perspectives, Art and the Cosmos, Digital Photography, and Picturing Your Life. Although each work is vastly different, they all explore a central theme: the beauty of nature.
This year’s collection includes many mediums, such as films, paintings, photographs, drawings, and so much more! While some pieces capture peaceful moments and the quiet resilience of life, others detail bold landscapes or wild bursts of adventure– while a handful focus on small, cozy feelings, like a soft breeze or reminiscing on warm memories.
These captivating works of life in motion let us ponder how nature shapes our thoughts and feelings. They allow us to stop and think: How has humanity shaped the world that we once all advanced through in harmony? Can we rediscover the wisdom of nature and while also restoring a light within ourselves? In this exhibition, we can pause, feel, and reflect on the ever-changing world around us and our overall place in it.
Each aspiring artist highlighted in this exhibition brings their own unique perspective on life, utilizing colors, sounds, and texture, to tell a story and communicate their feelings.
The pieces featured in this year’s Astra Nova film festival and art exhibition are an ode to this thought-provoking poem’s central theme; The Beauty of Nature.
